Bless You

Dima Loginoff is a very talented young Russian designer, just arrived but already being recognized by the biggest names in the game and won several awards already in his young career. Agenda Inc. for instance called Dima 'designer of shockingly beautiful things'. The most blessed example I could find would be the 'Bless You Lamp'. May everything thing you read, write or lighten be blessed!

Community driven artwork

Dutch artists Haas-Hahn (Dutch for Rabbit-Rooster) took on the biggest community driven artwork called the O Morro Project. Goal of the project is to turn one of Rio's worst slumps into a giant work of art. Simply call it Favela Painting. They already started off by painting some gigantic murals. I believe that art can litterally bring colour into your life, even when most colour seems to be faded away and replace it with inspiration. Take a look at the website and see what you can do to support this brilliant project.

A glimpse into the digital future of magazines

Berg and Bonnier R&D presented us the MAG+, which could easily be a glimpse into the (nearby) future of magazines. These clever people developed a prototype tablet which offers a rich media experience but keeps het classical experience of reading paper nearby!

The MAG+ offers you the possibility to scroll through articles, you can just quick scan the headlines and when you see an article you're interested in, you can dive into it and read the full story. Also you can mail a specific article or photo to friends, you can post stuff to a weblog, cut and past as you like! By simply heating up the tablet with a fingertouch all possibilities are open to you.

This is by far the best and most likely digitalizing attempt of paper magazines I've seen so far and I wouldn't be surprised to see it actually arrive in 2010. If I compare it to the for instance the myth of the paperless office, this actually stands a chance. Where the majority of people simply cannot say goodbye to paper, the MAG+ does a very good job of combining the paper experience with digital progress and could please even the most oldfashioned readers with no digital experience what so ever. Big thumbs up from me!

Latest design by BIG architects

BIG and others were responsible for the design of this new educational centre on the Faroe Islands.

It is to be the biggest educational facility ever built on the Faroe Islands and what an amazing building it is! Designed as an vortex, maybe a reference to the Islands' raw and pure natural surroundings, a stormy sea an cold hard wind. Love the design as I do most of BIG's work.

Check the BIG website for more examples or Designboom for the full article.

All eyes on Tom Ford

Tom Ford has made the news a lot recently, but not about a new line of clothing or eyewear. The former Gucci-designer made a (very succefull) moviemaking debut, expressed his hatred of Yves Saint Laurent and announced that he would never again do a fashion show because he got sick and tired of journalists being responsible for the success of a new line. Now that's all very interesting of course, but let's just focus on the one thing why I love Tom Ford. And that thing is great fashion! Slick clothing design a fantastic eyewear! So just a little reminder for everybody and more is available ofcourse on the website.

Multi purpose hunting trophy

A hunting trophy is something you would expect in the library of an English lord, but not in a kindergarten! Yet Jeroen Wesselink proves me wrong here. This Dutch designer shows his fantastic looking stool called My Deer and be honest, even the most animal-caring veganist treelover would want to have this on the wall.. or on the floor! If you don't need it you hang it on the wall, when you've got company, they will be fighting over My Deer. And at the same time, the first item for small talk for once won't be the weather.

Check the Jeroen Wesselink website for more of his designs. And the My Deer can be ordere online for €149,- incl. VAT. Fair price I would say... At least cheaper than buying a gun and ammo, renting a pick-up truck, getting a sixpack of beer and a day off from work!
